I didn't remember seeing it in the plans, but due to the lovely weather we've been experiencing, CEC have decided to go one step further and add an open-air swimming lane to N. Meadow Walk. Super...!

Once they've removed the temporary barriers, there will even be a 1.5 metre high fountain for the kids to play in...

Doesn't look like there's any urgency to fix it...

Meanwhile millions of litres of drinking water wasted.

edd1e_h - Scottish Water loses 629 million litres of water per day through leakage. This is actually pretty good, in 2002/3 they lost 1.12 billion litres per day!

They won't be sweating this one.

Reminds me of a when I was a student and something similar happened - my memory of the resulting fountain is that it was much bigger than that one, I assume it was a higher pressure pipe they'd punctured. I was in a chemistry lab at the time and the water pressure dropped noteably.

I for one welcome the new water feature - I don't remember it on the plans for the improved bike path, but it looks quite refreshing!

"Scottish Water are attending to a burst water main at the east end of the Meadows. Traffic management details are yet to be decided but 4-way temporary traffic lights may be required at Melville Drive/Hope Park Terrace junction later today (Monday 17th). We will provide more details as we get them."

4-way temporary traffic lights may be required...

Presumably because they'll have to shut the flow off from that junction, or similar. The burst is at least a couple of hundred metres away from there.
