A71 Calder Road works - July/Aug

    Worth bearing in mind for commuters:

    CALDER ROAD A71 - Sighthill/Gorgie, all roundabouts between Bankhead and Longstone, starting at Bankhead.

    Replacement of barriers on roundabouts. Lane closures on all approaches to roundabout and diversions as signed.

    Eastbound approach: no access to Wester Hailes Road. Northbound/Westbound approaches: no access to Bankhead Avenue.
    Southbound approach: no access to Wester Hailes Road.

    Interesting time to do this seeing as Broomhouse Road still closed in 1 direction and that is the diversion route!

    Don't suppose there's any chance of keeping one side for bikes and turning the other into a single carriageway...

    And the advantage of this section of dual carriageway in journey time is??

    - especially if you just crawled along Gorgie Road.

    Obviously it was 'planned' at a time when it was expected that the whole of Gorgie and Dalry would be demolished to make way for an urban ringroad and a brave new world.
