At least that's how it looks from their not terribly informative web page:

Boutique bike shop in Glasgow

When it comes to bike components I usually interpret boutique as meaning 'barely functional design massively overpriced by justification of being hip/cool/retro etc'. Reading what information I can find on the site:
Pronto Gara is a contemporary cycle store, bringing you bikes, urban clothing and accessories not seen in the UK before.
does give the impression this may be aimed at a certain demographic of city dweller that often travels by means of a bicycle bereft of a freewheeling mechanism.
I'll take my snide cynical hat off now and make a note to actually check the place out though.

Well, to be fair, boutique was my interpretation not their word.
And I was using a fixed wheel in the early '80s when it was not trendy. Some of us just like them.
Actually i learned to go a bike on a fixed wheel Triang.

I think the skinny gentleman in the red bow tie, wearing the wicker fisherman's basket may have inadvertently helped form the impression that the shop, situated in the art studio quarter around the Tron, has a bit of a poseur thing going on.

Well I've still got me old bow tie so all I need now is a pastel coloured lady's bike and I'm hip.

Situated in Glasgow’s buzzing Trongate, Pronto Gara specialises in mid-range to luxury commuter bikes all hand-picked, road tested and imported from our suppliers in Italy. We provide a range of bicycles to suit all budgets and styles."
Will they all have Campag...

The only time I've heard the Trongate referred to as "buzzing" it was the height of glue-sniffing's popularity.

nahh the tron is nice these days, lovely pub round the corner, big fugly carpark tho.

I know. But once I'd thought of the glue sniffing joke, I was determined to use it. Is the pet shop still there? We used to visit it like a zoo when I was a child.

This shop looks like we're "catching up" on a lot of the fancier stuff they like in the US (q.v. "lovelybicycle" blog)

Interesting. If Lovely Bike is anything to go by, the Italian city bikes combine a Dutch-ish upright riding position with slightly less than Dutch weight. I'd love a more upright bike at least for trips into town but not sure I can handle the hills on a proper omafiets
