Might have a cross bike theme.

26th?
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
Might have a cross bike theme.
Other bikes allowed.
26th?
Statutory reminder -
For newcomers (ALL welcome) -
"Normally from 7.30 to 8.30 for most folk."
Some people hang on past nine.
Sorry newby, 7.30 am or pm?
PY is invariably a morning thing. Often an early shift and a later shift.
Beer at other places comes in the evening.
"Beer at other places comes in the evening."
Except that 'we' seldom seem to make that happen!
Why wait until 26th. It's nice this week!
"Might have a cross bike theme."
I have an slighty annoyed bike, can I bring that one instead??
[I'll grab my coat]
TWO PY mornings in one month!! How extravagant!!
'Beer seldom happens' it's that don't drink and cycle message isn't it?
No.
Though there is a post about drinking the canal somewhere...
More to do with not agreeing date/time/place.
I would have said beer was less frequent/predictable, and more select turnout.
First beer meetup at the Diggers late December 2010 was very good indeed. First time I met most of you.
Since then we've been to the Fountain, the Golden Rule, that cycle-themed pub in Tollcross (not the tourmalet, the other one). definite south-west bias.
I'm keen to visit the hanging bat sometime?

I wouldn't hurry back. Good selection of beers but sold in a way that you're almost guessing what you're ordering. I'd still choose Blue Blazer or Brewdog or Cloisters every time. The branding was almost offensively bad if you like that sort of thing.
What about somewhere with an outside??
Ettrick?
Didn't we do Ettrick once? me, you,Spytfyre, & kaputnik?
That doesn't disqualify it.
Depending on the time and the weather we could always just take a saunter to Cork & Cask and then go plunk ourselves firmly down in the Meadows* with a bottle or 2 of something cold and refreshing.
*other public greenspaces are available
I was planning on stopping in at Provenance Wines tonight. Excellent range of beers etc - including good stuff in cooler case for those like me who (gasp, horror) like their beer chilled.
Also bike friendly - if you don't have a lock, owner is happy for bikes to come inside :)
typical CCE OT, but ever since Thresher and the various other offlicence chains went to the great scrapheap of bust companies in the sky, there's been quite the blossoming of really good independent bottleshops, which are better in every way.
Killing zombie companies isn't always a bad thing.
StepRam, if you're coming along, which bike would you prefer I bring:
Wee blue floofy, my Genesis Day One cyclocrosser. SPD pedals, flat handlebars, fixed gear, one V-brake.
Mileomnomnometer, my Genesis Croix de Fer. Nominally a cyclocrosser too, but as gembo has said, it's designed with a foot firmly in the touring/Audax camp. Drop handlebars, disc brakes, STI shifting. I can't remember if you're already familiar with STI shifting, but it knocked my socks off.
My CX bike has SPD/Flats so anyone* can ride it if they are wishing to try it out.
* when I say anyone, I mean those I allow.
Mmmm ... Croix de Fer ...
Are they as nice to ride as they seem? Like StepRam I think that a cyclocross bike is exactly what I need and the Croix has drawn my eye.
The CdF is within he CycletoWork scheme limit, but is it much of a step down from the Croix?
I love mine to little bits, although I've not shopped around many other bikes of similar type.
For commuting purposes I don't think there's much to distinguish the Croix from the CdF.
Frame - same geometry, but heavier steel, although I'd guess the difference is a couple of hundred grams.
Drivetrain - Sora rather than Tiagra. This year Sora have the full double lever STI, rather than the thumb studs, and from the brief ride on a Sora-equipped bike that I've had, I could tell the difference in lightness of touch but it still shifted without fuss.
Brakes - BB5 rather than BB7. From what I hear the difference is in ease of adjustment rather than braking performance.
Friday morning looking FABULOUS.
I fully intend to go to work on a cinnamon bun, and spend 40 minutes or so enjoying the sunshine sitting outside.
Do come along.
I'm planning on being there too. Can't make next week.
"Can't make next week."
PY gone weekly?...
i thought this month's offical PY was scheduled for the 26th, which I can't make. but now realize that's not next week.
PY can be as often as it decides to be.
I fully intend to go to work on a cinnamon bun, and spend 40 minutes or so enjoying the sunshine sitting outside.
That's 'free cinnamon bun' unless I sleep in.
Friday I'll be loading the luggage of four people onto a carry freedom and heading to those Netherlands. I'll think of you all, in an amused, mocking way, as I cruise the segregated infrastructure.
Can do this Friday if ubes is buying the buns? Time crucial if numbers smaller
On Friday I'll be loading too much luggage onto my bike and heading to that York. I'll think of you all as I get eaten alive putting my tent up next to the Ouse.
