Does anyone know where I can get 6 inch by 6 inch steel around 3 - 5mm thick? Marine grade stainless prefered but non stainless would do.

I have new carbon forks for my CX bike but they have no mudguard mounts, but they do have canti brake mounts so I was thinking of cutting a wishbone shape out to mount the crown nudguard stay to and also the dynamo light.

    Cheers,

I can give you a stiff plastic brake booster that would do the same job with much less weight. You'd need longer nuts for the brakes. I only bought the brake booster to get the longer nuts to attach front rack on another bike.

That sounds good. Shall I arrange a visit to yours? I need to look at your bike rack anyway. You free one eve this week? After children are in bed ~8pm onwards?

    Ah!!!! Now you're talking!!

Great! Cheers. Am speaking to a metal manufacturer in the Midlands about a wishbone. He can supply Marine Grade SS and lazer cut to my spec, but also suggested it may be heavy and could do it in Aluminium! He's a mate through Diving so just sussing out whats this is going to cost.

EDIT, oh err... Its very easy to rack up huge bills there! So much shiney shiney!! I'm a sucker for Shiney stuff, same when I dived, SS clips etc..

I have seen those SS shiney mudguards on a friends bike and want a pair. I just have to sort out how I install them on the front first.

They brought me close to tears with how difficult the installation is! And that's with all the correct bosses and eyelets already on the bike.

They claim to be lighter than plastic equivalents, feel the same to me.

Sorry, just spotted that. I'll bring it in tomorrow and meet you at lunchtime. There's too much going on in the evenings just now.
