Planning a family excursion to South Queensferry*, to partake of a cruise on the Maid of the Forth. Only snag is, I can't think of anywhere to lock the bikes up for an hour and a half! I've passed through the place often enough, but never had cause to lock up for any length of time.

Is it just a case of locking to railings/signpost on the seafront? Or is there more 'suitable' provision anywhere? If anyone has local knowledge, please let me know.

    * - will try out the new path: woohoo!

    That's what we've always done.

Just lock them up to each other behind the Hawes Inn pub. There is a fence but if you lock multiple bikes up its harder to move them. There is seating at the east side, then just at the back of the pub (not in the car park) on the grassed area you can lock your bikes up out of sight of passers by but in full view of pub customers.

    Cycle racks here:

There are also some either end of the parking area at the east end of town.
    And some at the Coop.

These are spotable on Open Street Map. Switch to cycle map view and look for the wee blue squares.

Or there, behind the blue car, almost right next to the boat:

Thanks cb. I note there are some unobtrusive 'hoop' stands here which could be handy for the boat, looks like the bikes will be adequately supported by the railings adjacent...

It will be hoaching with folk there on a hot weekend so you might find your bike being leaned against/sat on/used to tie dogs to, etc.

or, speak nicely to the life boat bods see if you can park bikes in their boat parking shed, perhaps for a donation, or perhaps the garage, next to the hawes inn. Local business would surely help one another ?In fact, what about asking the ferry operators? they must have access to somewhere on the pier ?
