@SRD, I think he means state nurseries, the ones attached to primary schools. They are closed for the holidays...

Actually I hadn't considered provate ones. Nursery Centres are open just now but not all nurseries fall into that category. I suppose that fact that I hadn't thought of private ones might mean something but I don't know what.

IT might mean that there are far fewer private nurseries West of the Pecos. Meanwhile in Edinburgh there are over 120 Private Partnership Nurseries. We also have Nursery classes attached to schools, some free standing nursery schools also operated by the local authority - both categories closed. Child and Family Centres also operated by local authority remain open over summmer for children with aditional support needs. Brigttstart nurseries for children with exceptional need also operated by the authority, also open.

We all draw normal in our own way [see the homecoming thread].

Having a cycle to nursery day in summer holidays would make it pretty much private nurseries in Edinburgh (maybe some of the other categories I mentioned still open might participate?). I suppose the nurseries think the parents might be more able to help child to nursery on a bike if schedules not so hectic in the summer?

There are also some private/employers nurseries that follow council school schedule - eg Unitots at George Square.

Anyway I'm just glad they're doing it. There are other cycling families at ours, also dads on roadbikes who sneer at me on tandem, but mostly 4x4s :(
