Sounds a bit like a psychogeographic dérive but even more 'meta'.

In these times of sterile urban corporate landscaping the dérive remains ever relevant as a tool to reclaim the territory yet i can't help but feel that documenting via camera or film is besides the point, somewhat

Scholars of Edinburgh's urban geography know the secret of why there are two Gabriel's Roads in Edinburgh and why one is at an unusual angle to the roads around it.

Nothing psychobabble about it. Just interesting heritage.

This stuff's fascinating, and I wasn't sufficiently intellectual/arty/interesting to have heard of it before. Thanks!
And I can see the relevance to cycling and its infrastructure.

Bill Drummond once sent echo and the bunnymen on a tour of the UK that followed Ley Lines. They played to five men in boiler suits and a sheepdog in Stornaway.
