Roll out the jealousy. Guess who I get to go training with?

So I entered this little SIS competition called "Ask Hoy" on facebook a few months ago. They were looking for the best question to ask Sir Chris.

    I asked
"Dear Sir Chris - We all know Rule 10 - "It never gets easier - you just get faster"
Just before your first olympics and the ones since. When you're in your last 100% training session, did you still feel that it hurt just as much. Did racing in the olympics still hurt the same?

Main reason I asked this is because I thought it was more interesting than "Dear Chris how much can you squat" and also because I'm interested in this side of the psychology of riding. I've noticed I have a much greater discomfort handling ability than I used to since being sat on the bike riding at 31km/h for 10 hours regularly.

So anyway mine was the best question and I won. I got 500 of SIS vouchers (useful for me as I use their product for racing and recovery after training) and I also get to.... have a training session with Chris Hoy at the glasgow Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome in early september. He'll be teaching me some advanced sprint techniques and fingers crossed he'll accept my challenge to a sprint race.

Anyway I'm super excited and had to tell someone who might care! :D

  2. I'm sure you'll need someone to... erm.... photograph the event...

    Chris Who?

I mean. Awesome! Well done, that is a once in a lifetime sort of prize, hope it's great. Make sure camera angles show you crossing the line ahead of His Royal Hoyness!

Nice. Hope you've recovered enough after LEL to be able to enjoy it. ;o)

How far do you think we'd have to ride for me to have a chance.... Maybe go for a 1 hour race?

Well done :-) I hope you have a great time.

(Last year my boyfriend entered a FaceBook competition where the first however-many-it-is people to like a particular page got assigned a rider each in the Tour de France. If that rider won a stage, you won a prize. Boyfriend got Peter Sagan... we were using his prizes (gels, For Goodness Shakes stuff, something else) for months! He didn't get to meet anyone interesting, but he did get a nice cycling top with green bits on it...)

That's great. I hope it goes well.

Hasn't Chris Hoy tried for the one hour record as well though? I think you'd take him on LEL.

Hey so I had my training day yesterday.

It was VERY fun. Got a chance to play on the track, have a chat with Sir Chris, have a few flying laps. It was really fun. Also got to play on the watt bikes and do a peak wattage test

I got 1211w at 167 max cadence which was fun! Need to work on maintaining that power though.

MY major issue was that the bike I had had a really greasy seat post which kept slipping down while I was riding but it didn't really ruin the experience of riding around a track with Chris Hoy shouting encouragement.

Recommended - would do again a++

Good one Alex! Just picked up on this now and that must have been a buzz. You can do 1kw on bike too. Explains a lot with regards LEL! Did you mention to Chris that he really must try Audaxing;-)

I think we need to get you a supermarket BSO and see how long it takes you to bend it...
