Must be something in the water, this forum's become right miserable recently! Statistics, politics, finance, rain...

So for goodness sake cheer up, cycling in Edinburgh isn't THAT bad ;-) we're not the ones cooped up in tin boxes sweating, more and more drivers are giving us some room (depsite the conspicuous scofflaw minority), even the rain when it comes is warm... And... Cycling is blummin' good FUN!

So relax, smile, and be glad you're on a bike B-)

Need to get back out on the mountain bike - spending too long purely on road tends to me grim and cynical. Not that roadies have a reputation for that :P

Though I will enjoy the warm summer rain while it lasts. Almost August - Autumn Approaches.

Well, at a session we ran at work today we had 20 people sign up to our find out more about cycling to work.

They were all keen to start cycling. So maybe we should take heart that others want to be more like us.

    :-)

"Must be something in the water, this forum's become right miserable recently! Statistics, politics, finance, rain..."

One of the good things about this forum is it can have mood swings.

When campaigning/politics is 'in the news' it gets discussed.

One measure of the state of the forum is how old the posts are on the front page.

Usually on a weekday all are less than 24 hours - not so today, so people are failing to post on the normal range of topics.

BUT there are still lots of visitors - more than this time last week.

So maybe revive some old threads or start some jolly new ones.

I sweat even when not in a tin box and rarely smile even when cycling, with the notable exception of when it's raining heavily.

It has been noted on this forum that I smile broadly when on my velocipedes.

Maybe I should try posting when cycling

"Maybe I should try posting when cycling"

Only if you can do it hands-free...

There were four pushbuttons on each handlebar, and I typed in raw binary. To form each character, the OR of all the active bits was strobed by the transition to no bits (when I let go). The action was synchronous and without the speed advantages of “n-key rollover,” but I was able to reach about half my normal typing speed.

    Not quite hands-free!

Presumably still holding the bars though.

It would have been a lot simpler for him just to use morse code :-)
