Ohhh great. Hundreds of people who haven't been on a bike for years riding through Airdrie again.

The mini roundabout at the fire station is bad enough on a normal day.

@weefoldingbike - they pass through the delights that are Westfield too I think... mind you all they need to do is pedal hard and fast and blink and they get to miss it ;)

I am also considering the 100 miler. I have heard that the route isn't the most inspiring but the prospect of a tailwind all the way is attractive. Anyone experienced the bike transport to Glasgow? Do they look after the bikes?

The bike transport to Glasgow last year was a shambles, if you are going to use it get to Victoria Park as early as you can (preferable the night before). They do offer bubble wrap, if you are worried about your bike being scratched. More of an issue is the coach drivers getting lost on the way to Glasgow and the trucks carrying the bike turning up in a different place.

Oh and don't relay on a tailwind, there has been at least one year when there has been an Easterly wind...

I think I will do the Tour of Tweeddale instead - the borders are lovely - bargain at £10. May also do the Etal-u-can audax as well if I feel up to it-even cheaper at £3.

So which distance of the ToT are you thinking of doing, 50, 70 or 90 miles?

90 miles - although the 70 is tempting since I haven't done the Talla climb. The Beeftub route should be nice though. Hope the wind follows us around!

    More expensive too.

Did the ToT the weekend before last. Well run event with excellent cakes. Very nice route though the wind was stronger than I would have liked.

I have noticed this before but the road surfaces in Border generally seem much better than in the Lothians.

    Anyone do the PfS?

PfS 100 mile from Glasgow to Edinburgh - went almost to Kilmarnock down the A77 first - then Moscow - over towards Biggar and in the Lang Whang past my house. Many MAMILs in evidence but in dribs and drabs only saw one team effort (with same tops on I mean). Good route.

They're saving themselves for the X-border this Sunday I reckon. Those of a non race bike persusion should prepare themselves!

    that's me. Eek!

Hope it's like the Trossachs Ton and I'll catch them all with 80 miles gone and leave them in my 1mph-more-than-them slipstream :D

I'm a beginner cyclist - and just went to watch the PfS on sunday - looked great fun.

A shameless plug here - I am a keen phorographer and took over 3800 images of the Challenge. If you were in it and want to buy a print, have a look at PhotoForMyWall.com. I'm non-profit so about the lowest costs prints you can get.

Plug over. By the way I was struck by how friendly everyone was and how much fun they were having, even as they struggled up the hill just past Kirkliston! I think it was a great advert for the sport, and an unbelievable amount of people able to do the 51 miles! Andy
