If you want to find the origin of this scheme start here and also here. There are still two sites waiting to get the secure storage, one of which is in my street, but then I have been waiting five years, so a few more months isn't such a big deal.

The proposed charges of £5 to £10 per bike per month do seem a wee bit excessive. The original consultation suggested that they could start at £2 per bike per month which would be more reasonable.

It is interesting to note that the secure storage is designed to take up the space need to park on car, and provides storage for 12 bike. Therefore at £5 per bike per month, the bike parking would yield £720 per annum, compared to £28.50 - £371 for the same space. Also note there is a cost to enforcing car parking rules, it is not straight income.

Once the scheme is fully up and running, maybe there should be another look at the cost of storage for all forms private transport... ;-)

I see on twitter that Kim's locker has finally arrived.

Anyone else on here involved in this trial? How's it going?

In July I was in London and stayed in Southwalk I noticed the housing estates have resident bike parking, secure cages, outside the flats most seem well used full of bikes. Southwalk also has a lot of 20 mph streets.

Well the cycle "Streetstores" have landed (or at lease half of them have, I am told there are two more to come). However, the keys have yet to arrive...

You mean you actually want to use them ??? Maybe the keys have been 'lost in transit' :shakes head:

Apparently the Keys arrive on Wednesday (but not sure if the two missing units will), read about the whole saga here...

    From our BUG:

Edinburgh City Council is running a consultation about installing secure on-street cycle parking. There is already a list of streets selected. If you want to have your say please fill in the survey (link is below). The survey is closing on the 30th Sep, 2019.

Having done the survey, i am struck that it doesn't say anything about cost.
