Foolishly, I started using my vaude made EBC panniers for grocery shopping. They have a hard plastic frame that the nylon is riveted on to. Now one of the rivets as popped out. Any suggestions for fixing? I found the washer in the bag and wondered what it was then put it somewhere safe and now I cannot find it when I know what it is.

Meanwhile, I have been applying liberal, nay mohandes K gandhi amounts of McNett seamgrip to my ortliebs and so far in the process (one light shop) the glued together seams have held up.

When a rivet popped off my Karrimor Iberian pannier I replaced it with the shortest M5 bolt I could find.

Wingpig that might work with a washer either side to grip the fabric

Worth investing in a reasonably good (about £20) rivet gun and rivetting it back - one replacement on either side of the one that popped - with penny washers to spread the load a bit more. Rivet guns are great for making stuff.

Once you've got the rivet gun, some thin plywood and a set of Ortleib handles turns any bag into a pannier.

My classic PVC Ortliebs have been repaired several times with rivets, nuts & bolts, spare PVC tarp material and Evostick. One now has an ugly, but effective additional bucket-shaped base to cover spilt seams. 12 years old(?) and still capable of being stupidly overloaded.

Took apart and re-assembled an Ortlieb recently to remove the salad oil spill from it, and took the chance to pick-apart and re-sew the split divider pouch. Number of cordura patches on them to cover tears and chafes also. Wonderful things.
