When will people - even Brenda M - stop using the word Fault when they mean Liability.

You operate a dangerous piece of kit car/chainsaw/gun and you are automatically liable for the extensive damage which happened because you are using such a dangerous item, even if the person who walked/rode/stood in the line of fire is at fault for doing so.

Use the word Fault and naturally you get the ABD down on you like a ton of bricks, simply because there is NO fault, just a liability, often described by H&S legislation quite well as the Duty of Care.

Oh and the sterotypes are still there - "and people cycling because they are too poor to own a car" directly above the piece about one Dr Brennan, a well paid medical researcher who rides around with a few hundred pounds worth of camera kit, on a not inexpensive bike. Doh!

I think people (and organisations like DC Thomson and the Sunday Post) use words that they are confident people will understand rather than words with very specific but uncertain meanings. The Sunday Post certainly understands its readers so even if Brenda M had used liability, the sub-eds in Port Dundas would have changed it.

Obviously you've not been up past Buchanan House and the Passport Office lately Said Port Dundas base is set to go the same way as the old Herald buildings on Albion Street I reckon and convert to luxury flats.
