Greatly enhanced a colleagues cycle home by using my track pump to inflate tyres (chunky marathons)

New to cycling, doesn't like the innocent tunnel and this was beforeI mentioned the severed pig's head

Lives Joppa, needs off road routes to Waverley station

    I proposed fishwives causeway, anyothers

Sea front, Seafield, Lochend railway path, up the zig zag and then down into Lochend park, along to Meadowbank shopping centre, across London Road and down to Abbeyhill, then up past Holyrood and up Calton Rd to the back door of the station. 5.6m, compared to just under that for the Innocent / Route 1 way from Joppa.

Thanks LivD that might work for her, I will dig out the handy council maps we used to have before we went paperless, they have the schools we work in and the off road routes clearly marked.

Footbridge across the marshalling yards, Hope Lane, pavement to underpass, past Big W to join NCR 1. Leave NCN before entrance to Innocent tunnel, take Royal Park cycle path to Holyrood then Calton Road to station rear entrance.

Excellent I will pass these on.

On the pig's head front, regular users of the innocent report such porcine bonces around the tunnel, according to this very forum

Fishwives good for cutting a corner, that's about it. If it was doing that (live in Joppa too) i'd just go Prom > Portobello Rd > London Rd > Regent Rd west bound. Of course London Rd might not be top of the list, but it's not /that/ bad...

East bound: down Bridges > High St > Park > London Rd etc

If you don'e want to do the tunnel then London Rd is the least worst option - much better than the low road round the park!
