Cycling back home from work tonight past Donaldsons saw what appeared to be two cyclists knocked off by a blue VW Polo which had mounted the pavement! Both appeared to up and walking but female rider was sheet white, possibly in shock (said she was a CTC member when I spoke to her). Other guy had blood all over him but was also up and about on the phone.

Ambulance was on it's way although not sure if Police attended.

Stopped to see if they needed any help but felt pretty useless! One bike was under the car with a wing mirror smashed off.

    Looked pretty bad!

Long time since I've been down there. Is there still that bit where the lanes narrow for the turn down the side of Donaldson's and you really need to aggressively take the lane early or muppets will race to get in front of you? Hated that bit even early in the morning when it was quiet.

Hope the people are OK but that sounds bad.

If there has been damage, and injuries, as described, is it not a legal requirement for the involved parties to report it and remain until the police arrive? I'm never entirely sure about this.

    I hope everyone is ok.

@ Instography: Yep, still there in all its pinch point squeezing glory.

I'm frankly amazed there isn't much more carnage on the stretch. It's probably the first thing I'd ironically point to upon hearing 'model cycling city'. Well, plenty of contenders for that, but it was always the worst on my old commute - these days I detour round the back of Haymarket Yards.

Yeah, since the last section of the path was opened I've avoided that. But to hit two cyclists is a new level of numptiness.

Nasty. Hope the two cyclists are ok.

I've had a few close passes at the pinch points in both directions. The appalling road surface doesn't make things any easier.

Snowy - I don't think it is "a legal requirement for the involved parties to report it and remain until the police arrive" - sometimes the police won't arrive at all.
The main law is s. 170 of the Road Traffic Act 1988: a motorist in an accident has to stop, and give their details. If they don't give their details then they have to report them to the Police asap. See also this for other info

Hi Snowy, if the collision involves injuries then it should be reported to the police.

I'm not that familiar with that bit of road. Is it here ... with convenient cyclist in picture ?

Looks pretty tailor made to incite conflict, I hate road narrowings like that.

I hope the cyclists are OK.

This was passed the pinch point heading West. It looked like the car had left hooked the cyclists by trying to turn left into one of the guest house car parks.

God! I cycle home that way fairly often. I was walking on the pavement there this evening, musing how pleasant it was NOT to be cycling on that hideous road. The pinch points on both sides are scary.
