Must say I'm bit surprised, the few times I've been that way it's been completely deserted.

Of course noone pointed out that anyone who is so "poorly" or "distracted" that they can't read clear signposts should probably not be driving in the first place....

And the road design does force you to slow down and have a look about.

Good grief, from the picture it is very VERY clear that you're not allowed to drive a car down there. Seriously, people are saying the signs aren't adequate? There are two, at the road narrowing, one right beside the 'priority' sign that you should be paying attention to to know if you have to wait or not, that very clearly point out 'Bus, Taxi, Cycle ONLY'. Why is it with cars we let people use they're own inability and negligence be used as an excuse?
Yes, it's a stressful time going to a hospital, but if THOSE signs are 'confusing' or you don't notice them, then what other signs out on the network are you missing, and should you really be behind a the wheel of a car if your stress levels are causing you not to notice things on the road?

To play devil's advocate,
Perhaps this stretch needs a Large No Entry sign, with a clarification, 'except Busses' etc.. underneath?
The signs indicating no driving are Blue and are on the cycle/path. Initially I associate as a cycle only sign, so don't look further. I only started noticing the blue signs when I took up cycling again. As a driver I notice red bordered signs first, as these are warning signs and blue signs second. This is just habit I'm afraid.
The Blue signs stating no entry are double negatives, rather than Obvious Positives! The first thing that comes to mind looing at the picture in the paper, is 'give way to oncoming traffic', not 'No Through Traffic' and by that time if its clear, you'd be through the narrowing.

There's also the "flying motorbike" (no motor vehicles) with an "except buses" plate which was used at the bus only entrance to the Strabane bus station.
Given that this sign was understood in the sticks...
It's interesting that the positive has been used instead of the negatives - perhaps a sign of positive encouragement:
we're not saying you can't use this road, we're love you to use this road, but you need to be in one of these to use it

It might be statutorially correct, but I have to admit at first glance it says "give way to oncoming traffic, PS there's some blue cyclepath signage you can ignore too."
Would be better with the 'no vehicles' (except buses) sign IMO.

You can go down it, for access, from the Greendykes end, you just can't go through it.
The signage is very clear.
It's no different from the lane at ASDA at the Jewel - simply a no-through route unless you're a bike or a bus.
Any old excuse though.

Far too often, the press confuse (or legitimise) the excuse people use for why they've done a bad thing for the actual reason why they've done a bad thing.
Excuse: Bad signage
Actual reason: I chose to ignore the signs because I didn't think I'd get a fine as road traffic regs are so rarely enforced.See also "Cyclists don't pay road tax" for "I'm an impatient bad driver"

Just like the No Entry (except for Buses and Cycles) on the Shore. Signage a-plenty, including warnings from the bottom of Leith Walk onwards, plus the words painted large on the road surface, but totally ignored by many drivers. It's not a case of not seeing them, it's a case of 'Who gives them the right to stop me driving where I like? Sod that - there's no-one to catch me and I'm going through'. I love these stories where drivers caught breaking the law are "innocent motorists used as cash-cows and victimsed by a greedy council", when the same folk are all for banning every cyclist from the roads when a single cyclist is reported as doing something wrong...

Confession time...
I found out this morning that I've been fined for driving in the bus lane along Calder Road the other week. D'oh!
I was going out towards the M8 and, in my shameful ignorance, I had assumed the bus lane restrictions were the same across the town, like an hour or so in the morning and evening. As it was midday, I took to jauntily tootling along said bus lane so others could merrily whiz by me, rather than undertaking me as I stuck rigidly to the speed limit as is my usual want. Needless to say, this particular stretch of cameras operates all day.
Anyway, I humbly accept my punishment and shall endeavour never to fall foul again.
There. That's not so difficult, is it? "Yup, I got caught, bang to rights, so I'll pay up and learn my lesson", as opposed to "It's an outrage! An infringement on my civil liberties! I should be able to drive wherever I want! Eric Pickles is right!"
Typical cyclist, eh? Caught in a bus lane and still finds time to lecture drivers.

Very much my approach as well gdm. I got caught speeding twice, years ago. All sorts of mitigating factors I could trot out (as well as some from people I told along the lines of "But you were only 10mph above the limiy!"); but instead I... paid up and took the points. I was in the wrong. I knew I was in the wrong.

The regulations on all bus lanes are equal, except some are more equal than others...
I'm not sure why the council took the approach it did and made each bit of greenway and buslane almost unique in its hours of operation, rather than them either being buslanes, or not buslanes.
Like that age-old question, when is a buslane not a buslane?*
* = Answer, between midnight and 730AM, 930AM and 430PM and 630PM and midnight weekdays, 930AM-1230PM Saturdays and all day Sundays.
Also, I found out today that buslanes and Greenways are not neccessarily the same things. Not as far as the regulations for lines on them go (former use yellow lines, latter use red lines)
