Leith Walk? Finishing the path to the Forth bridge? Proper links to Midlothian? Connecting the Restalrig path to Holyrood Park?

Removing all the silly chicanes from the Sustrans network in Scotland?

I reckon if Keith's looking forward to it they'll all be taking their municipal Jags to a school to watch some kids ride around the playground in hi viz and helmets learning how to cycle properly.

Well, I suspect it's unlikely to be proper* segregated cycling infrastructure along all key commuting routes / main roads.

*By "proper", I mean of a similar standard to a road, ie, capable of being ridden at 15-20mph without being thrown out of your saddle, unlike the shared use pavement experience I endured along the A199 heading towards Dunbar on Sunday...

I don't know many roads in Edinburgh like that!

I recommend Orchardhead Road - steep but smooth (apart from the speed bumps).

@min Point taken! ;-) But I can do the main road out to Portobello at c20mph okay as long as I pick my line. Problem is, I need to go that fast to feel safe in the traffic...

Scot Gov spokesperson: Surely if you want to travel at 20mph you just get in your car and drive on the far superior road surface? They even have electric hybrid thingummies these days, so I'm told.

I suspect the key investment priority of a gathering of local authority transport convenors and the Minister will be...lunch.

I'm sure the Minister will be far happier meeting local authority hacks, who pretty much all share his view of cyclists, than people who like cycling - like those annoying PoP people, who just aren't grateful enough.

I understand that following his illustrious military service, a career in local council politics was his chosen path. They'll all get along smashingly.

I'm looking forward to the Google self-driving car, so I can program it to drive behind me, by itself, at 15mph so I can feel safe cycling :)
