"The weather has often been testing when the race has visited Scotland"
How true, and especially so tomorrow from the sounds of it !

Is it possible to get to peebles early on a sunday by public transport? had a look at horsburgh and first bus websites, and 11.30 looks like the earliest you can get there?

I saw the Sky Team Bus travelling towards Edinburgh in Eddleston :) I waved but no one waved back.

I just saw the IAM team accompanied by two team cars out on a warm up, they'd just passed Hunters Tryst when I saw them. I was cycling in the opposite direction, I waved but disappointingly got no reaction from either them or their drivers. A poor show if you ask me.

Of course, the finding of cycling's "Scottish home" does somewhat overlook the fact that South-West Scotland is the home of cycling per se, the place where the bicycle was invented. Kirkpatrick Macmillan, Keir Mill and all that.
