I'm taking No.1 son to see James and the Giant Peach tomorrow, which is at the King's Theatre. We'll be on the tandem, but I realise there's a bit of a shortage of bike parking around there. I know the racks outside Cameo on Home Street, but is there still a Sheffield stand outside the Scotmid on Leven Street? Are there any other options nearby, safe-ish for Saturday, mid-evening?

Anyone local to Tollcross care to enlighten me?

Scotmid, yus. The Ventoux pub is on the other end of Tarvit Street and is probably a good place too, not because it's got great parking(just the usual local railings) but because the clientele are pretty bikey and therefore less likely to look at someone hacksawing or boltcropping a bike lock without reaching for the pitchforks and flaming torches.

We were there tonight en tandem (plus folder) and just locked onto the 'guard' railings.

Better than to Scotmid racks which are always busy with shoppers. Not really fair to them to clog them up for a couple hours.

Show is great. Enjoy! We won our tickets via the (cycle-friendly) Edinburgh reporter, which made it even more fun. Would not have taken both kids, but since we had four tickets we did, and the two year old was entranced.

Thanks folks. Probably do the railings outside the theatre then. Given the length of the tandem, most practical option.
