    Lots of stuff in today.

    http://www.bikeradar.com/commuting/news/article/aldi-cycling-gear-for-winter-38497/

Have a bag full of stuff I bought from the Gorgie shop. But the ONE thing I really wanted was sold out by 10am.

Do you know if all the stock goes out or whether it's restocked later in the week. I'm after a gents large merino wool base-layer top. Anyone going to the Musselburgh store?

Sorry Coxy, I was one of the cycling locusts who was at Gorgie at 8am and I bought one of said merino base layers (large)! Think there must have been about 15 others there at opening time so I'm not surprised stock was gone by 10 as everyone seemed to have at least one merino.

Also left with an armful (technically pannierful) of items, including a very warm pair of gloves that I was extremely glad of on the rest of the commute - it was very chilly this morning!

There was a queue for the opening, at 8 am...

    Yes, the queue surprised me!

Do other Aldi events attract the same frenzy?

Coxy: "Anyone going to the Musselburgh store?"

I could pop round. What was it you were looking for?

    Cyclingmollie:

A gents large merino wool base-layer TOP (got the long johns). Not the cycling top, nor the compression top, but the BASE LAYER top.

Don't go round just on my account though. By the sounds of it, they've been in demand.

Thanks very much. This place is lovely.

Queues of landed gentry and carparks full of range rovers when LIDL sells horse blankets

Aldi merino used to be itchy, maybe not now? Merino is the new extra virgin olive oil ? which at one point was on more bottles of olive oil than there were olives in the world?

I can't find the actual things on the website, but here are shots from the e-mail I got in case it's useful -

    can't find any horse blankets

Rats. Just realised I've bought a size large baselayer in my haste to get my hands on a bargain...

A quick try on suggests it's wearable, but it is itchier than normal merino. May end up wearing it over something...

If you can bothered with the trek, Dunfermline branch had loads left today in the afternoon including the Merinos.

Coxy, I got you the last large men's merino base layer.

How do I get it to you?

I picked up a pair of winter gloves, socks and a can of GT85 for myself with some of the proceeds from selling my old winter bike frame yesterday.

Might check the Gorgie one, they do six cartons of non irradiated fresh orange for 90 p so if no itchy & scratchy merino still worth it. Itchiness is relative of course

Many thanks to Cyclingmollie for assistance above and beyond the call of duty. I now have the merino base layer.

    This forum is great.

Was in Aldi in Gorgie after work and noticed the crowds of cyclists, so thought to myself I bet there is an article about it on here. Was anyone else there at about 6?

I went to Gorgie at about twoish. Nothing there I needed that hadn't been in Lidl a couple of weeks back, so I just got some more spoke reflectors.
