Scottish government car use is up by a quarter apparantly.

Not sure about that ashamed-to-drive-to-the-supermarket quote from Conservative deputy leader Jackson Carlaw.

I thought the SNP used a tiny stick, and an even smaller carrot.

    Some good news though. Look:

    "
There are some signs of changes in ministerial travel, with transport minister Keith Brown significantly increasing the number of his rail journeys after Scotland on Sunday, The Scotsman’s sister paper, revealed last year he had taken the train just four times in his first ten months in office.

The latest available figures, for March to May, show he made 24 rail journeys - four times as many as his ministerial colleagues’ train trips put together.

"Before entering elected politics Jackson spent 25 years in the Scottish motor industry within a major Glasgow south side family motor retail business."

Although you at least can't call him a hypocrite on car use.

Would you buy a used car from that man? He did raise a chuckle with this though: “It’s more evidence of a grey-haired, male-dominated front bench, so fatigued by the challenges of government they can’t even face travelling in any other fashion except the extortionate."

KB up to a mahoosive 24 train trips, eh? The fares probably amount to one week's overtime for his chauffeur.

Probably told Eck he can't use the helicopter any more due to safety conserns.

I had visions of him saying to his chauffeur, "drop me off at Haymarket and pick me up at Waverley - need to get my train quota up a bit".

  5. Keith Brown does something people ask him to, making 6 times as many trips in a third of the time, so effectively 18 times as much train use as before and.... we have a go at him.

I don't like the guy, but seriously, sometimes the cynicism can take a back seat (since it's now no longer occupied by KB).

I'm more concerned about KB's record on the transport budget and support for cycling than if he took the car or the train to go to his next hard-hat and fluorescent waistcoat photoshoot.

The SNP being criticised for being too anti-car is quite refreshing.

I'm not impressed with the priority of his policies either , but from earlier this week:

Great cycle from Inverkeithing into Cycling Summit in Edinburgh today but aching now. What versatile objects car sponges are!

Is this a Government minister distance record?

Well, fair play to him. He made the effort to cycle in across the bridge.

I wonder how he liked those tree roots on the A90 path?
