Stolen from someone who had hired it for a couple of days. Went last night from Mortonhall Campsite.
The bike is without seat pad so not exactly comfortable to ride.
Think this is the first recumbent to have been stolen in Edinburgh.

And it's not like anyone could ride the thing away (without a lot of practice and some discomfort) or fence the thing easily.

How very odd, I hope you get it back LB.

Sorry to read this Dave, hopefully it will be advertised locally and someone know knows you will alert you to it. Or someone will spot it, and nab the rider.

i would think that some time spent scouring the gullies and shrubs up that way might be a good investment?

was a kayak pinched a few weeks ago. found very near by, behind some bushes.

  5. I think SRD has a point - surely that's the type of bike that the thief will clearly realise very quickly he's no idea what to do with it... (unless stolen to order?).

Sorry to hear about this David, bad enough having a personal bike stolen, but when it's part of your business there's even more impact.

Sorry to hear this as well, David, hopefully you'll get it back in short order given how rare these are. Hope to hear some good news soon .. SRD's probably right .. the recumbent community is so small that it'd be near-unusable without being spotted; perhaps it's just a ned who stole it and it might be in the bushes nearby?
Best wishes for good news anyway ..

    That's awful, David.

What should we do were one of us to find it? Ghost it home to lock it to something?

Go further, faster and in greater comfort I think you mean.

Yes. Thanks for your interest and concern. Could be a good EN story mind you... Thieves have run out of 'proper bikes' to nick etc....

David, that is dreadful. Really sorry to hear about this happening to my previous 'bent. I agree with other comments - possibly a ned and it may therfore have been dumped as they will have struggled to ride it or stolen to order.

I will obviously keep a look out for this pretty unique really in the UK, let alone Edinburgh with its distinctive colour and upgraded terracycle idlers.

I came across on facebook "Stolen Bike Register Edinburgh" - it might be worth posting there along with velovision?

I hope this will be a repeat of the TT bike that was nicked, joyridden for a few days and then sold but recovered.

If you do see it on Gumtree et al and the police don't help, might I suggest you bring along a certain sizeable gentleman with a trike and a green hat?
