I'm a likely culprit for 29/11 since it is highly probable that I'll be working from home that day in readiness for my house being invaded by a boisterous 3 year old for the weekend.

Any other middle of the month except this one would have been OK for me.

Sorry folks but I won't be in attendance anymore. I have to head south of the border for my Grandma's funeral.

I'm up for a teatime @ Woods Deli in December. I can't do the 5th as I'm busy, and can't do the 12th because I'll already be full of Christmas Lunch.

What about Thursday 19th? (feel free to start a sort of "WD Thu" thread!)

well you may have the technologu to decipher that, but some folks (including me) do not.
Is this an attempt to stop less IT-aware folks from joining these informal meetings?
Now. I wonder who that works against/for.
Please will you just say where these informal get togethers happen and give the details in plain english.
    thanks

If you click the http://tinyurl.com/PY-Fri link it will take you to a cycle journey planner which will plan your journey to the Peter's Yard meetup. Once you can see the journey planner page, "Choose your start point" then "Plan this journey" and you'll have a detailed list of directions and maps which explain how to get there.

Though I have to confess I tried the cycle planner on areas of town I know well and found the results confusing and I couldn't follow where they meant, so mainly stick to identifying the location on the map/in my head and riding there!
    Spokes maps are good though.
(Shuffles back to the luddite corner)
Hoping to be there (down the hill from where the RIE A+E used to be!) this week but depends on course start times, fingers crossed :-)

CS isn't perfect, but it's quite remarkable.

Of course it relies on Open Street Map which relies on people putting in info/data - especially changes. I doubt if OSM managed to keep up with all the tram related changes where roads closed or changed direction of traffic flow.

CS offers choices - (to paraphrase) direct and wiggly (looking for "quieter" routes). Even with areas you know well it's worth assessing the options occasionally. Inevitably (especially in Edinburgh) 'suggested' routes may involve things you think are worth avoiding - eg sets.

Obviously while riding a 'new' route it's easy to get lost.

If you have a smartphone there are apps that will satnav into your ear (with various degrees of reliability).

    What would Boris say...?

Unless you're being literal, then I'm assuming for that ridiculously technologically advanced functionality the apps aren't free?

    "What would Boris say...?"

    Do I care?

I use one earphone. Audio input is sparing but 'turn right in 50 yards' can come a bit late.

"I'm assuming for that ridiculously technologically advanced functionality the apps aren't free?"

    Well actually, yes free.

    iOS and Android.

    Uses CycleStreets.

It certainly kept up with some - it was a bit eerie to see its map of the west end with Shandwick Place entirely missing, for example! (It's back now.)

If you mean the Boris bit, I'm sure I realised.

Presume the free app bit was serious? (Not that it matters!)
