Just spotted a white Croix de Fer on Gumtree for £300. Much as I'd love such a bargain, I think this is suspicious. One rubbish photo and no real information. Have any been stolen recently?

(Of course apologies to the seller if it is genuine, but at that price?)

I'm not on Facebook - could someone who is point this advert out to him or Zoe at Ronde please? Looks too much of a coincidence......

That was suspiciously soon after Stickman's post - I looked at the ad about 20 mins ago and it was still there...

Hopefully the owner will report the ad ref to the police, who if they suspect it is indeed stolen goods, can (according to Gumtree) ask Gumtree for seller info...maybe an email address but if they get v lucky, a mobile phone number...

@veloseb - crossed post - Gumtree policy is they will help the police if they get in touch about a crime...so the victim should encourage his investigating officer to speak to Gumtree for that mobile number...they may be able to search gumtree records and tie it up with other suspicious ads..

(*making a leap of assumption the ad was suspicious, apologies to all concerned if it was genuine)

Dammit, should have taken down the number.

However the ad did have a Google maps location which I do remember. What does that indicate - where the seller was when the ad was posted (probably a mobile phone?)

And any suggestions how best to deal with suspicious ads? I'm really sorry if my post has got in the way of a potential recovery.

Just checked my phone and the gumtree app was still open at the ad, so I have the mobile number that was posted. Not sure what to do with it, but PM me if needed and I can give it and the google maps location.
