That's not really a commuter bike is it? Everything about it (apart from the front wheel) screams 'time trial'.

Regardless of how 'aero' they make it, and how much carbon they throw at it, I think it would be improved by the addition of a chain.

There are some 'posey' shots at the bottom where the bike does have a chain. In one of them though the tyres appear to be flat and there is no actual riding of the bicycle.

Also interesting to see the nice SRAM brake/shifters on the handlebar, but no brakes or gears on the bike...

Nice of them to develop a solution that requires not just purchasing a relatively standard tyre size, but the whole forks, blade and bike in total. Don't think I would have invested in my panniers if I had to buy a whole new bike just to fit in with their clips.

But wouldn't the design also lead to the problems about aero wheels where there's a risk of toppling due to the way it catches air currents? I'm sure there's a single technical term for that which explains what I mean so hopefully clear enough...

Anyway - I'm sure it's one of those great solutions for the Steves of this world

"upper class, male... a prosumer... enjoys riding a $4,000 bike"

    That is so me.

    Hotard.

It's the first and last name in prosumerist Fred-tastic singlespeed aero washing machines

Does it affect the handling if you commute in the rain and the "trunk" fills up with water?

@Bhachgen gives you more downhill momentum. Just fall off going uphill and it empties.

    @ Bhachgen

That was the first thing I thought - no protection from the rain, so the intended user probably lives in Arizona!

As concept bikes go, it's interesting but clearly flawed. The side wind issue is another concern and the general idea of it being styled on a TT bike seems very much at odds with it being a supposed commuter bike. For example, an aero seatpost limits your rear lighting options dramatically. And how many people's commutes can benefit from such extreme aerodynamics? Only a relative handful I'd reckon.

Still, if it keeps $4,000 bike-owning "prosumer" (awful word!) happy, good for him!

That upper class $4000 prosumer ends up with a tiny bag

This is exactly why bikes shouldn't be built by conceptual designers / self-declared "innovative thinkers"!
