Anyone know what the police presence at the Wellington Statue end of Princes Street was about today?
I was stuck obeying the hand signals of a policeman on a motorbike for quite a while, until 2 black SUVs got waved through, the bikes then followed it. I can't find anything on the interwebs about it...

Fair enoughski :) Thanks. I must confess the whole thing left me thinking I should brush up on policeman hand signals as I spent most of the wait worrying that I wouldn't understand when I was being signalled to move.

Whenever I've seen a police directing traffic in real life they've dispensed with the strange cupped hand shown and made clear and obvious universally-recognisable signals.
