    Hello,

on Saturday I made the mistake of going along East Preston Street intending to get to the park via West Preston Street - my usual route with the trailer. I stupidly didn't realise that they are digging East Preston Street up - the lights were red but we were goaded into turning right (and "getting a bloody move on") by a man who I presumed had authority over the signals - so I was forced to RLJ and then go down to Blacket Avenue to come back up Dalkeith road accompanied by the heavy rain and moody drivers...

In the unlikely event anyone hadn't noticed this, and was intending using that as a route - I'd go one street north instead.... hopefully it'll be fixed soon (perhaps it already is?)

Went that way this morning - East Preston Street was "closed - local access only" at the left-turn filter at Dalkeith Road but I and another cyclist were able to trundle right to the end, dismount to cross the coned single channel then resume on West Preston Street.

you did well - I asked if I could walk the bikes through (going the other way), and was told I was lazy and had to go the long way like everyone else, and to get a move on while I was at it.... it was pretty miserable weather though I didn't envy him standing there, but the signals not working didn't help the case for sympathy much at the time...

I went along it on Saturday - probably easier on a weekend. Didn't have to dismount at all.

Got to a road closed sign yesterday evening and thought "Oh, so this is where East Preston Street is", but we just cycled round the cones and through (there being no workers, grumpy or otherwise, at 8.30 in the evening).

that's what I would have liked to have done, but grumpiness and obedience prevailed and we went the long way round...
