Roseburn path - mobile lost

Early in this morning and my alarm started going off in my jersey pocket just as I got onto the Roseburn path, heading Leith-bound.

I stuck my hand in the pocket and after a bit of rummaging the noise stopped - job done. Alas, no mobile when I got to Leith.

I haven't been back up because the chances of it still being there are zero, I'm sure. There were a lot of riders about and I'm hoping one has picked it up. It's a white-backed Sony Ericson Xperia Active.

(And yes, I will be trying to ring it. Unfortunately it sits in airline mode until 8.30)

Sigh, going straight to voicemail. Perhaps it switched off when it hit the ground and my kind rescuer hasn't thought to switch it on... (he says hopefully!)

Much checking of the undergrowth will now be required, since I'd feel like a bit of an idiot if I left it in a pile of leaves only for it to appear many months down the line when they've rotted away. So much for lunch!

  3. Have you got insurance for it? Maybe a bank account with bundled cover included?

Mind you, a few hours crawling through the undergrowth in the freezing cold might be easier than dealing with insurance claims anyway.

No, I don't have one of those accounts, and it's not really worth insuring separately (not that expensive and quite old, and as you say, price your time into making a claim too... painful!)

I did once lose a credit card on the way to Fife and found it the next day, sadly run over (but the chip still worked) so who knows...

May cycle it this lunchtime. Any bit of path to narrow it down to?

Hope you get it back Dave. I notice the phone has a hole for a lanyard.

I've been up just now for a bimble about, no sign of it (short of actually raking through all leaves and undergrowth).

I was able to narrow down the point where I put my gloves back on from the headcam (just after the bridge of WoL heading north) but as I was wearing a windproof shell on top, it may have taken a while to work it's way out.

We'll see what we shall see.

Better report it to your mobile provider as lost, especially if you have any online shopping apps or similar installed. No telling what the person who finds it may do with your mobile... Anything from long calls to premium rate numbers (owned by an associate) to charging your credit card for utility bills (happened to me).

I did the path quite slowly around 12.30 with attention to leaf piles. Very tricky to see much else than the occasional fag packet, bottle or can in the leafs.

Gave me an excuse to do the Haymarket junction again...

Yes... just cancel it all of course.
