Suppose they may end up printing a retraction, on page 110000700989, in Times New Roman size 2.

There was a tweet from a journalist on Twitter last week implying that things were bad things were afoot at the EEN/Scotsman.

The Scotsman and Scotland on Sunday newspapers are to be slimmed down, with more journalist jobs being cut, BBC Scotland understands.

The number of pages in the Edinburgh-based daily will be reduced, and magazine supplements will be axed. The Sunday paper will re-designed in a tabloid format. The changes will be introduced from early January.

Sales of the Scotsman fell by 17% in the year to July, to below 30,000 per day. Scotland on Sunday sales between January and July were down 20% to 37,000.

It seems the Herald is a better paper. Perhaps 'we' could approach them first for cycling/transport related stories? Maybe we could encourage them to print stuff about Edinburgh as well as Glasgow.

  4. I stopped buying the Scotsman over 10 years ago, and only bought the Weekend Scotsman thereafter. I eventually gave up on that as the price climbed, the quality plummeted and the once-interesting weekend magazine became 'The Gaby Soutar section (featuring boyfriend Rolf)'.

If only they'd never canned 'Shopping Around With Beryl' ;-)
