Cllr Work is on the case

"I’ll ask about getting the cycle path swept."

That reminds me: Gogar Station Road has hedge clippings (including blackthorn) all over the shared-use footway. I shall report them this minute.

Gogar Station Blackthorn. That fell sergeant is strict in his arrest. Through my chunky tyres and then through the whole thickness of my thumb as I felt for the offending object.

Cllr Work has come up trumps on the A90

"N1 cycle route beside A90 swept this morning and assured that route will be monitored & swept when required. @peter_d_jackson @SpokesLothian @hank_chief @edd1e_h @DFrench88"

    A90 cycleway swept... however...

There are now LARGE oils spills every couple of feet commencing at the start of the cycleway at Cramond Brig all the way to its end point at the entrance to Dalmeny House at the top of the hill

Could someone please inform west team that this requires URGENT remedial action ?

Words can't describe this ridiculous fail

The Humps of snow appear to be shrinking on the newest section of the A90 path. But the melt water is running across the path and freezing into large sheets of ice!

    Take care.

    Twitter works again -

Have confirmed with road services that the snow will be dealt with today. We will also try to sweep for the thorns but that might have to follow on when the sweeper is available. Hope this helps for the journey home!

Yes I did chat to a guy fixing his puncture on the path. I must have been fortunate.

I was eyeing up the field to the north and wondering if it might have been quicker to jump the wall and cycle up the dirt/snow boundary! :)

A90 path still an abject mess at 16:20

can't tell if anyone's been there for token maintenance but there is a small channel you can get through without dismounting

if that's their effort, its very poor

as DaveC points out, those high mounds of snow are just going to melt and refreeze over the path

and this is not a path that gets salted or gritted

there's just no thought put into the requirements of the job

car bumper still there as well, right across the path, a classic debris

what are we to do, just throw it over the wall into the estate?

wouldn't be the first time that it ended up being the only option

Yesterday, the snow was slowly clearing but with the forecast weather I fear there will still be snow and ice on the path towards the end of the month.

There was also a large pile of turf and mud at the Brig end of the path. Assuming it's still there today I'm about to tweet about it. Hopefully Councillor Work will do his magic.

    edit: Now done

Has anyone cycled the coastal route through Dalmeny Estate recently ? Acccording to the John Muir Way website the "Dalmeny diversion" is no longer there - I was just wondering if that was true.

Based on the tracks, someone (I assume CEC) had driven what appears to have been a mini tractor along the path before 10am today.

However other than a very short stretch of around 30m there was no evidence of any grit having been dropped.

I'm not personally bothered about the lack of grit as I need spikes for other parts of my route anyway but if they are not gritting it why are they using it as a road?
