"You should have a flag on that!"
A varied group of friendly bikers up from Durham encountered on top of Lammermuirs near Nine Stone Rig.
Red bike is a Norton. Sure some other forumers can identify the rest. There were no Harley riders.
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.

cant' see the pic at work but from memory next one along was a BMW and I think there may have been an old style MZ there as well (small screen this morning makes it difficult, sigh)
May have a look and play spot the bike tonight if time allows :)
Thanks. Is a mobile phone pic so lacks detail.
They seemed like real enthusiasts rather than 'head downers'.
One was an MZ (East German). The Norton looked good - not sure how old it was.
Of course the style for 'retro' has entered everything now. Was also interesting to see one of their ensemble with a cyclists style fluorescent band on. Possibly cycles as well of course.
Ok, now from the bigger computer... looks like from the left a Norton Commando then a boxer BMW (qi point, the blue and white BMW symbol represents a spinning propeller as they used to be an aircraft manufacturer) an MZ (Motoradwerke Zoschpau iirc) then the last two are a bit trickier as they are hidden, I'm guessing the red one in front may be another Norton and a wild stab in the dark for the last one... a Royal Enfield Bullet. How'd I do? :-)
The dayglo sam browne belt isn't a cyclist thing, motorcyclists, esp the police ones, have been wearing them for as long as I can remember, my dad even bought me one when I got my first bike! ;-)
That's pretty accurate. You know your bikes (powered and un-powered!)
Nice to see such a variety.
But who was Sam Browne?
General Sir Samuel James Browne was in the British Indian Army cavalry in the 19th century. He lost his left arm in battle, and invented a diagonal belt to carry his sword and pistol in the right place.
Thanks Arellcat
