  1. One of the schools I train in is a 'positive action' school.

They have school bikes which they keep in a steel (shipping) container

I would like to try and get them a grant so the container can be fitted out with bike storage racks. If anyone can offer any advice on a suitable type of rack for this AND any body which might offer grants for this kind of stuff, I'd be very grateful.

How about Cycling Scotland? I think I had an email from them a while back about grants for cycle friendly workplaces. (It got deleted, I'm afraid. I'm not interested in doing any more than counting bikes in the bike racks at my office!)

Cycling Scotland have a community grant scheme but it's closed at the moment (may reopen for applications in April). There are also Commonwealth Games related grant schemes with possibly specific ones for schools http://www.gameonscotland.org/yourgames/funding/celebrate.asp

ScotRail also do some community based grants which include sustatainable transport http://www.scotrail.co.uk/betterwaytobe/ourcommunity

For bigger projects, the climate Challenge fund may be the way to go - they have a specific 'junior' fund if any of the kids in the school are interested in getting involved http://www.keepscotlandbeautiful.org/sustainability-climate-change/climate-challenge-fund/junior-ccf/
