Oh, interesting...
There's a pdf presentation on that link with a proposed route on it....
........go and look at it..........Posted 11 years ago # -
Yup, via Tarvit St (contraflow), Lochrin Place and through the new canal basin development.
I see lots of wider pavements in Tollcross's future.

It's good to see that this is being considered although I'm intrigued to see how well their proposed route will work out sometime in 2015 based on their current plans.
Avoiding having to turn right from Gilmore Place would be fantastic, although navigating Home Street could be almost as interesting depending on what's put in place.

Home Street will be the real challenge to get right - assume they will do a pavement section here

Haven't read -
So don't know if proposal is to shut Tarvit at King's (to motors) - which would be GOOD.

Tarvit Street is the defacto loading bay for the King's so I can't see them standing by and letting it be shut. It would need through access as you can't 3-point an HGV there or get around Dumdrydan Street with one.

Yes but that's 'legitimate special use' which could be dealt with.

A tantalising glimpse of comments on Leith Walk roundabout too! I presume the one at London Road?
24 years later, the council will finally get around to doing something about both junctions...

Hi folks. just to feed back quickly - a very wide group of people attended. local residents, traders, police, cycling and walking people.
We discussed a range of options for the route, with an emphasis on delivering a route that would be cycleable by a 12 year old, but also considering impact on pedestrians, residents etc.
The proposals will go to full public consultation later this year, and I don't want to compromise anything, but I think I can say that the proposals showed a firm commitment to segregated cyclepaths, widened pavements, and improved crossings, taking into account desire lines.
None of the proposals I saw took space away from pedestrians for use by cyclists, which I had certainly been worried about in earlier discussions.
I'm feeling cautiously optimistic.

"I'm feeling cautiously optimistic."
I think that is a very reasonable point of view.
BUT
Why can't we have it tomorrow??...
Posted 11 years ago # -
We can have it tomorrow if we cut a hole in the fence at each end of that vacant plot of land by the canal basin...
Posted 11 years ago # -
"vacant"?
Thought there were building more student cages?

Yesterday I spotted the Lochrin Basin developer path to the canal is well on the way - looks smooth (unlike the towpath it connects to) and nice and wide
Got a picture - can someone tell me how to add it (ideally without having to create a flickr account)?

http://imgur.com - no need to register, and it should give you some forum-friendly code for your image too.

"should give you some forum-friendly code for your image too."
If you want to add an image that is already on the web (usually ending in .jpg) then all you need to is surround that by img tags - [img][/img] (best if image width is 500 or less)
If you have a link to a page (normal ending .html) then just paste it in full (starting with http or www).
In this case I'm keen to see that pic, so email it to info@citycyclingedinburgh.info and I'll deal with it !

Thanks for the tips both. I'll try them out next time I have a pic

Perhaps worth a sticky thread on "how to post images"? Not always clear to folks new to BB code or Flickr. Or even people used to Flickr who haven't got used to the latest b****s up they've made of the UI.

"Perhaps worth a sticky thread"
Yep.
Really should have a 'how to improve CCE' list!
(Update links on right, etc.)

a sticky thread on "how to post images"
Aye, but if folk don't know how to use Google to find the answer then y'know...

You forgot to say "Googol" that time.
Seeing as the

tag-button does nothing, could it be replaced with a "YouTube clip" tag-button, which would also nothing, thus allowing YouTube clips to be easily embedded?Posted 10 years ago #
