I nominate Baldcyclist, DaveC and Instography for regular commuting through the year from the other side. Their example shows that a much shorter commute of <5 miles should be easily possible for much of the public.

I am also tempted to nominate someone who mixed modes of transport, namely swimming and cycling, and together no less. But I am not sure that he was on his way to work.

I draw the line at swimming to work! The shipping is hazard enough without the temperature of the water, tides and other obsticles!!

I have two more commutes to work on my bike to do this year and to date including my Audaxing shinanigans I've ridden ~12,352km this year (not including casual cycles with my children, taking just shy of 23 days of continuous cycling! Blimby Charlie!

@DaveC what ever happened to that dinghy you were planning on buying? Thought you were going to commute across the Forth from Dalgety Bay to Granton and then pick up the bike from there?

I have one more commuting day left on the bike, which will also probably be my last cycle of the year (except for the roll trips on the Pashley).

Will finish up on about 4300 miles. Hopefully not about to tempt fate, but this is the first year in 4 that I have not had either a car, other bike, or tarmac interaction...

Why thank you, although I'm 400 miles short of last year's total and my paltry 3,100 miles leaves me well behind those other two.

I'd like to mention my inward commute buddy TractorFactory who at least cycles in and back five days a week (unlike me - I'm still getting the train back to Inverkeithing and only in four days) and has clocked up 4,300 miles.

@Instography but with your bespoke cycling kinky boots and bum bag you must qualify for a sartorial elegance award.

Ah, yes, didn't actually get around to finishing those boots. Something else for the Christmas holidays. And they weren't for me!
