Funnily enough I got that too :-) I have the kindle version but the pics are better in the hard copy, and it's a proper book!

Some bad socks with bikes on them.
A t-shirt with a rather poor knock-off version of the "ascent of man" cycling toon on it.
They tried!
Question - did the Boardman / Lotus bike really "change the world". Or is it a book that should better be entitled "50 bikes that were an evolution of previous ideas that shaved a few seconds off a specific record?"

My 7 yr old just got a tunic/dress that says 'I live to ride my bike'. Quite a taseful outfit from M&S.

Oh, and she loved 'the boy who biked the world' (from sustrans website), but was devastated when he only got as far as Africa in the first book.
More worryingly, it's not clear the subsequent books have ever been published :(

Got a voucher for a bike fitting at La Ronde, the Wiggo autobiography, a giant bike bell and a bike themed print.
Biketastic!

A white leather Brooks Swallow saddle for the Cotic X rebuild. Ridiculously extravagant, but so so so pretty.
And a subscription to Cyclist magazine (which I really like, so rather chuffed with that).

I received no cycling-related gifts, unless you count the underpants which I may well wear whilst cycling. Bought myself another pair of 3/4 Humvees in the EBC sale.

I was given a Walz cycling cap in a rather fetching extremely un-hi-viz black.
Alas I was too slow for the EBC sale this morning and missed out on the shoes I wanted.

2 pairs of cycling gloves, a pair of socks with reflective bike logo, a set of wind up lights and a brompton toolki.

An Altura Night Vision jersey, with the explanation that no offence would be taken if it was exchanged. Having recently bought a bargain Altura softshell from Leckie's I may do that, although the new top is very nice.

I received the book, "Le Tour 100". It's a coffee table book to flick through and read a few pages at a time.
Well chuffed!

I've just remembered to add: I also got a tea towel with bicycles on it from my mother-in-law.
This marks a worrying departure for me: it's the first year that I've had a present that is bicycle-related but not off a 'wish list' of some kind. It means that she went into a shop, saw a tea towel with bicycles and thought "I'll get that for Greenroofer because he likes bicycles".
I obviously have a reputation now. I am not sure if this is a good thing.

I fancy buying myself the front light in the EBC sale, down from 50 to 20. It is a rechargeable torch, with what look like flimsy O rings. You see the bargain of 60% off is niggling at me. Anyone any opinion?

nifty wee led back light in my stocking...cool

My winter bike got a couple of new chains, degreaser, chain lube and a couple of lightweight inner tubes. I got a voucher for Ace Bikes and a matching Ladybird "The Story of the Bicycle" book and mug.

you mean we're supposed to buy our bikes presents as well now? Help, I haven't got any of mine anything...

@Kaputnik, one could argue that the Boardman bike was a step change in competition cycle design as it combined F1 standard CA design and CF monocoque design for the first time in a full package while most of the opposition were still welding alloy or steel together and not moving significantly away from the two triangles standard.
I would say though that only a few of their chosen fifty bikes "changed the world", but most could be argued as some kind of developemental milestone.Posted 10 years ago # -
Some electric blue flat pedals for my winter/mountain bike. Although I must in honesty confess that my boyfriend said "what do you want for Christmas" and I gave him the exact spec, website and colour.
But they are still shiny and lovely :)

@sallyhinch. That depends. Mrs Greenroofer specifically told me that my bike was not to have any presents, because it's had enough stuff already this year.

Not bought yet but got birthday money and christmas money from my grandparents that is going on a helmet camera. Probably the Contour Roam 2.
{Update: should be with me in the new year :D in a rather fetching red as it was cheaper than the blue one)

Oooooh!

I bought a contour in October and realised that they had gone out of business when I went to download the software I realised they had gone out of business, but looking around at the moment it looks like they're going to be revived.
No bicycle related Christmas presents for me, however I did buy myself a pair of pully systems for mounting bicycles on the ceiling that I've now put up.

Just got a niterider solas 2 rear light with Christmas money. Should be good in low light and day light but has a group friendly lower setting

A merino top to add to the collection was all. Birthday in Jan so hopeful of more!
Arellcat, sounds same as my Walz wool cap from last Xmas - never needs washing, excellent warmth.

Gembo, did you buy that light, my dad bought it vs the revolution one for 40 (on my recommendation admittedly) it's pretty bright the ebc wasn't 20 quid better.
Posted 10 years ago # -
I thought I hadn't got anything but came home to a Brooks Tool Roll for the big bike and a Georgia in Dublin rain skirt which is supposedly usable on a cross-bar bike - we'll see, if not it will certainly be handy on the Brompton
Posted 10 years ago # -
@steveo
Did buy the light for twenty. Dispatched so quickly that it came when I was away. Awaits me at the dell
