I eat what goes in two ortlieb panniers held together by Mcnett seamgrip. I shop at Scotmid for almost everything. Milk is delivered. I think it would be pretty easy to feed a family of five more cheaply. Aldi seem quite good value but further to cycle with two loaded panniers.

Normally our panniers rotate between farmers market, waitrose and Asda. Thus year, owing to dire weather, we had a merry lidl christmas....Turkey delivered by Dawn of brewsters chickens. Fab as always.

we certainly weighed less when every calorie was carried home on foot (Kennington Cross not being very conducive to cycling). OTOH, making a weekly menu and doing a weekly shop does make for less food waste (most of our veg is now home grown so we don't need to worry so much about picking up fresh veg). When you're 7 miles from the supermarket you do need to plan ahead!
