We don't seem to have a thread for cafe thoughts and recommendations ? May I start one ?

Today's visit was to (I think it's called) the Mill Cafe on the Lanark Road just before Balerno. (We weren't on bikes, we'd walked up the WoL). The cafe was very nice, will certainly call in again. There's ample space for bike parking and a bit of outside seating too if the weather is nice.

Charterhall do you mean One next to the tattoo parlour? Where hallidays used to be with kip McGrath tutors upstairs? Might be The Coffee Mill. the mill on the other hand is a day time, very good value cafe in the st Joseph's hall across from the primary annexe in downtown Balerno.

There is a cake thread somewhere tht is a cafe thread but always good to discuss cafes. I asked the coffee mill when they open as the cleaners are in early but itis not til after the school run. The woods deli place did open earlier but it has reduced this. There is also another cafe on the Lanark road at currie where the off licence used to be and the cake shop in juni green has re-opened. Hope there are enough cake eaters

How muddy was WoL path ?

Couldn't tell you what it was next to but The Coffee Mill could well be its correct name. On the right just before Balerno.

WoL path largely frozen so depth of mud diificult to judge. I was on it on my mtb a couple of weeks ago and it was awful, I assume it's only got worse since.
