    Dear bicycle enthusiasts,

    I need your help!!!

My lovely newish hybrid bike (Revolution Heritage, black frame, greyish mud guards, serial number AA30120497 - stamped into the frame) was stolen a few days ago in the Bruntsfield/Viewforth area of Edinburgh (even though locked) - the chances that I might find it again are probably very low but I thought I don't leave anything untried to find it again.
When it was stolen, it had a white metal basket on the pannier rack, no front basket though. Any help is very much appreciated! Thank you for your help.

    :-( Been there, it's horrible.
Good luck getting it back, but whatever happens, don't let the thieving scum put you off biking!

  4. Will keep an eye out. It's a horrible thing to happen, but good to know that people will look out for it as they're cycling round - some people here went out of their way to look for my bike when it was stolen last year.

    +1.
Everyone here will keep an eye out. Horrible feeling to find your bike not where you left it :(

Hi Simone, saddened to learn your news.
Hopefully your bike will be returned to you.

    HOWEVER!!

My wee brother moves in slightly more nefarious circles than I, and we were recently chatting about bike theft, he tells me that there is a proper gang stealing bikes in Edinburgh/Scotland, and if the bike is above the £2K mark, you get £50 for informing them of where it is, you get a bit less for anything below that. They apparently do love christmas time, and freshers week too. The dude circulates in Leith pubs and known "dodger" hangouts.
Make, Model ideally and location is all they want to know. Scary stuff but makes a bit of sense, given the scale of some of the thieving being done.

Hi guys, thanks for your comments. Kind of good to hear from people who had their bikes stolen as well, not that my bike was the most expensive one but as someone else put it in another post about their bike "my pride and joy" - not exaggerating at all. Indeed scary and nasty things going on in Edinburgh....

Suppose I have done everything I can do so far and all I can do is keep my eyes open now and...well, maybe get a new bike!

Anyway, if you hear or see anything, please get in touch!

You may or may not find Find that bike helpful - basically a feed of bikes for sale on Gumtree/ebay (not necessarily stolen ones) which might include yours.
