I've no idea where Drylaw is, but BBC assures me it's Edinburgh.

"Mikael was described as being 3ft tall and possibly wearing a beige hooded jacket, brown shoes and nightwear."

    Disappeared from his bed overnight.

That'll explain the chopper over Drylaw on the way in and headless cops roaring round with no sirens or flashing blue lights, driving like lunatics!

... and the policeman walking along the NEPN in Drylaw, and the police car ON the NEPN near Roseburn ...

at the moment they seem to think he may have just 'wandered off', so looking for him / anyone who might have seen him on foot.

seems hard to believe that a 3 year old alone in the dark would not have been seen by someone.

You would think it would be the perfect use for the Police cycle section - cover much more ground than on foot, get in to many more places that cars can't (paths, cut-throughs, bushes, wasteground) and have a much better view and perception of your surroundings on a saddle than you get from inside a car.

I really feel for his family - I hope he's ok. I reckon I might just go out that way at lunchtime anyway - you never know, and you're right - surely covering the area on a bike is a good idea...

Algo - and others - people who want to help in the search are being encouraged to meet:

    12 noon
    North Edinburgh Arts Centre
    Muirhouse

(sorry for late posting; tried earlier but got an error after hitting 'send' and then couldn't get back in)

Just been for a loop around NEPN, Granton and Drylaw area on my lunch break - couldn't go for that long. BBC Scotland at Waterfront Gait as well as some police. Strong police presence around Ferry Gait as you'd expect plus Helicopter quite far West while I was there.

A few folk out and about looking but not that many, and as I was cycling I couldn't investigate everything in the wooded bits around the path - when you start looking there's a lot of stuff that looks potentially investigable.
