Because my knees are jiggered. But not as much as they used to be, thanks to a regular cycling habit.

I used to commute with my partner who took great delight in racing past me going "meep meeeeeeeeeeeeeep!"

Still trying to figure out how to change my name on my profile. IT has never been my strong point.

@ Charterhall
Isn't it just a case of clicking on the small "Edit" tab on your profile page and changing the name (assuming there isn't some admin clearance to enable that)? I'm not about to change my ussername to find out! ;-)

Don't think that lets you but there must be a way as spitfire became spytfyre after he became spitfyre?

I had a look and couldn't see how to change names. Maybe you have to message chdot.

There's a slightly sneaky way to do it. Click on view your profile, click on edit and you'll see a dropdown box with your current user name and some variations on your real name. Change your real name to some new thing, save your amended profile and then edit it again. You're now able to change your user name to various combinations of whatever is in the 'real name' fields. That's what I just did.

Convoluted, but it works a treat, thanks Used to be Instography.

Couldn't you though?

My head hurts!

Um
Some people have changed their usernames for good reasons.
One person started with their full name, but realised that it wasn't a good idea (for them at work.)
One person changed to have their CCE name the same as their blipfoto name.
A couple of people with an argumentative past changed their name and underwent slight personality changes.
Personal choice and all, but the consequences aren't always helpful.

Helpfully, if you have the "do not email me when there's an update to one of my favourites" box unchecked, the email notifications show the original username.

I click my fingers and ... 3, 2, 1 ... we're back in the room.

Emphasis on 'we'.

I won't say which of you I prefer, Insto. Don't want any infighting.

Only one of them is me. The other is the instography formerly known as "I were right about that saddle".

Hovering one's mouse over the "PM this user" thing and watching the URL in the status bar is a quick way to confound such japery.

Thanks for the help with the above. I've changed my name to one of my favourite ducks. From Charterhall.
Posted 10 years ago # -
So do we record spottings of you under "Spotted" or "Wildlife Highlight of the Day"?
Posted 10 years ago # -
A very elegant duck, too. Nice choice.

ARob was my nickname at uni.
I'd just bought a Specialised TriCross Comp when I joined the forum.
