    Apparantly Peebles needs a new bridge over the Tweed so lots more houses can be built to the south east.

    This is fairly old news but I've just stumbled on it.

    (News sources seem to like referring to it as a 2nd bridge, missing the point that Peebles already has three bridges (but only one you can drive a car across)).

    Judging by the proposed location this, if done well, could neatly link the new path from Innerleithen with the old railway (and tunnel) heading out of town to the west.

    There is an online survey looking for views. It closes in a week's time:

    We cycled through the tunnel, out of the houseing estate, along the old line/path/flood/defense* and over the non veh bridge. I'm not sure if you could continue on the north side apart from going back to the main street, as we doubled back to meet people outside the Old Parish Church of Peebles.

    * del as applicable.
