I spend my time on the roads trying to stay well away from them.

ok, I undestand all the concerns but, as a cyclist and an hgv driver, mine is bigger so every one should look out. As a cyclist, mine is sneakier and every one should look out ! The law states, every road user shall have consideration for evry road user !
Many, but not all hgv drivers have an understanding of cycling. How many cyclists have an understanding of hgv ? The road spaces are available to all !Where I work the car park has prob, twice as many cars as cycles. If you dont have an HGV licence, aprox 2 thousand pounds, how much do you know about hgvs ?
We are always the scapegoats, but if you dont fight us,talk to us and give us the eye contact, nod of the heid ,we will go round you ! Dont get me wrong there are some a*******s drivin wagons but they are fairly easy to spot. White ,no livery. Hiding ! Seriously, check the mirrors, I always point at the cyclist, motor cyclist or ambulance coming up behind me! It just lets them know ive seen them. But on the bike, I have been known to point at the mirror with the middle finger !
PS small cars hate steel toe cap boots!

I thought I was being chased up the quiet route from Shandon to Bruntsfield by a guy in a big delivery lorry after I had jumped him at one of the mini-roundabouts (I admit instead of giving way to him - it was 50/50). Anyway he chases me all the way up the back route over all the mini-roundabouts shouting at me "F@1% You" or some such, then pulls an amazing maneouver to park in the oncoming lane but facing Bruntsfiled road near to Howies Restaurant. He gets out of the cab and I am saying - Are you OK mate? and He is actually saying Tunnocks (As I am wearing the Teacake Jersey). It was all a jolly bit of banter rather than a high speed chase by very big lorry. HE was a friendly Geordie driver and I was laid back Team Tunnocks rider. All about perception that one.
