Hello,
in case anyone didn't have a flyer stapled to their bike and is interested - here are some cycling events that the uni is advertising....
CityCyclingEdinburgh was launched on the 27th of October 2009 as "an experiment".
IT’S TRUE!
CCE is 15years old!
Well done to ALL posters
It soon became useful and entertaining. There are regular posters, people who add useful info occasionally and plenty more who drop by to watch. That's fine. If you want to add news/comments it's easy to register and become a member.
RULES No personal insults. No swearing.
Security marking is still happening, then? Might pop along. I thought the polices had dumped that when they amalgamated...
The Uni still advertise Macdonalds as a shop you can get Uni discount at :(
Will definitely pop along for another lock and slapstrap though.
Do you need to be a student/staff for this? I'd like a new lock.....
Aye, you need to have your blue card
@Stickman - I'll see if I can get another one somehow and let you know...
edit - assuming you don't have staff/student card! If you do then ignore that, but the offer extends if anyone else wants a lock. I believe the lock in question is a "Masterlock" D-lock type.
Oh, that Uni ;-)
Meanwhile, at another uni, I have successfully signed up to be a member of a cycle focus group on Tuesday evening next week, at which I will apparently be given £20 and provided with refreshments. Oh, and hopefully I may be able to contribute some valid points towards improving the provision of cycling facilities at Heriot-Watt Uni!
apologies jdanielp - that was remiss (especially as I worked for years at HW)
Last year they wrote down everyone's name and number on a list, so that we couldn't go round all the roadshows and get several...
And they do read here...
oh right thanks for that EddieD (nice to bump into you earlier) - I wasn't suggesting anything underhand, just evidently being naive...
@algo no problem! Just don't let Heriot-Watt's Principal Steve catch you failing to acknowledge his institution.
Interestingly, the cycle focus groups that will be taking place at Heriot-Watt are split into separate sessions for men and women. Not entirely sure why...
"separate sessions for men and women"
Hope there are sessions for 'would like to cycle' too.
@chdot they advertised it by attaching flyers to bicycle seats during the day the other week, and also by sending a message to people subscribed to the university cycling mailing list, encouraging people to apply "regardless of how often they cycle" or words to that effect. I suspect that not many non-cyclists will be aware of it, however, so I may bring up that point at the focus group. Thanks!
