How about one of those cycle escalators they have on Norway. you place your foot on the footplate while remaining seated on your bike and it then pulls you up the hill.

slightly downbeat because it's currently the only place on the commute that makes 800 lumens of light worth it

time has come for you to move out to the kingdom, then

it comes to us all eventually

Alternatively ride home via the waterfront. Or take a job in the Kingdom.

You know that some cantankerous fool would park their car at the foot of the escalator on purpose, like that old eejit who lives on the est side of the brig and refuses to put his car on his drive.

Old, yes, cantankerous, most definitely, but the guy is definitely neither fool nor eejit. He's getting on a fair bit and struggling mobility-wise, and I don't think it's unreasonable to park his car, legitimately, outside his front door. Even when not using his car, it being parked there gives him a bit of space between his front door and the "racing line" that so many cyclists seem to adopt .... it's a fekcin wheeze belting down that road full-pelt towards the brig, don't y'know?

I walk the brig every morning. Each and every contributor and reader of CCE might treat all and every pedestrian with respect, but that still leaves a mind-numbing number of actual fools and eejits who have no respect for pedestrians on the brig, particularly those on their cycle commute.

Fair point, and I retract my comments about him. Appologes.

Let there be light! .... except the wee narrow bit where chance encounters with ninja peds/dogs/cyclists still pose a risk.

Let me guess... after waiting a couple of years for the lighting team to be available, we didn't get them to fit lighting all the way down the path? #thisisedinburgh
