Gotta love the transport Scotland quote at the end.

Are their promotion chances based on how glum they are about positive change?

Guess they don't want to get ahead of themselves. But does look like the system works. I wonder how many people have been ticketed for breaking the speed limit?

This doesn't seem to work on the M6, except for one section where the speed limit is permanently 50. At other times the signs telling you to lower your speed mean you are shortly going to be in a jam, so the system is not a universal solution

I almost always use the M6 in the middle of the night. We sometimes get diverted off in Birmingham when it's closed for repairs.

That thing of using the hard shoulder as lane is a wee bit unsettling.

Unlike long-established signs on the M8 in Glasgow, the speed limits are mandatory and enforced with cameras.

    Presumably that's why it works.

This suggests that there is a political agenda not to allow promised road-building projects to be derailed by 'evidence' that other, cheaper solutions might work better.
