    Dear Cycling Edinburgh

Did you know that Edinburgh Libraries’ gives free access to downloadable magazines? Our Zinio eMagazine service lets you read full digital copies of your favourite magazines for free from your computer, smartphone or tablet. There are over 100 magazines available to choose from, covering everything from food to computing, and music to motoring. Titles you and your members/ group/ may be particularly interested in are – Cycling Sport, Cycling Active, Cycling Plus, Mountain Bike Rider and Mountain Biking UK.

There are clear first time user instructions available on the Zinio page of Your Library (http://yourlibrary.edinburgh.gov.uk/zinio) to help you get started. And if you don’t already have an Edinburgh Libraries’ membership you can join online or at your nearest library.

I'm glad you got this information. I have been meaning (and constantly forgetting!) to post this for ages. A very handy service, the only problem being that most of the time you need to download issues manually. It initially downloaded each issue automatically. Oddly though, I sometimes find the occasional magazine downloading without my intervention.

But don't worry if you miss an issue, back issues are now a feature of the service (limited either to when that you added the magazine to your device's library or when the back issue ability was added, I'm not sure).

If you run out of space on your device, you can delete issues and still download them again later. They will also still be available through a desktop machine via the cloud (but with the "print" option disabled, which is understandable if a little annoying).

Setting up your account is a little convoluted but once up and running it works pretty well. It's a little akin to Ultra Violet/Flixster if you're familiar with that example of imperfect integration.

Been using this for a while, thought it a great service, but the Android app for Zinio that runs on my Motorola Xoom tablet is now so slow and unresponsive that I rarely use it now. Also a number of magazines I used to read regularly have been removed (New Scientist, for example). Good for the selection of cycling mags though, yes.
