Sounds a bit silly to me!

You have to wonder how little "danger sense" some people have.

I've had the mispleasure of cycling alongside the A9 on a verge/path from Gleneagles Station to the main road to Creiff, which is the only way in and out. It was a bl**dy terrifying 500m and I really had to put my head down and grit my teeth and get out of there as fast as possible. How anyone could manage this voluntarily onto the hostile environment of one of the busiest motorways in the country is beyond me.

Depends a bit how fast the traffic was going (25 refers to the speed, doesn't it? ;-) ) - stuff belting past at 70 is a bit different to a traffic jam... Also if one was right on the inside edge of the hard shoulder one would be a more reasonable distance from the traffic than being on a narrow pavement... not that I am saying that it is sensible!

I've found myself on the A90 south of Aberdeen as there seemed to be no alternative. Did about 200m before finding a muddy side-track. Not advised.

Let's face it, anyone following an app's advice to cycle on a motorway isn't wise! Anyone who would choose to ride on a motorway, let alone think it's legal, shouldn't be let out of the house on their own.

I rode along the Edinburgh Bypass once after a ride with my co-workers (3 of us took the bypass). Back then, it was legal to do so but I never chose to do it again after that one experience!
