Last week I sprinted down to the train, managed to squeeze onto the almost full rack and sat down relaxed, until the train started to roll out of the station, whereupon I remembered that my season ticket was still lying on the table in the house :-(
So I sadly bought an expensive return ticket. No sooner had the conductor dissapeared down the train than I realised I had just bought a return from Polmont, and unlike my season ticket from Falkirk that meant I could only get a train back as far as Polmont on my return journey that night, and they only run half hourly instead of every 15 mins or so. DOH!

Clearly I'm not at my best in the mornings :-/

It was the pump yesterday on, yes, the day I punctured. Today, I found that I had left the car unlocked at the Park and Ride.

Instography, hopefully you made that discovery before anyone did!

Yesterday morning I was wallowing in my own genius after relaising that despite forgetting to bring cufflinks I had an emergency pair in the drawer at work.

Nice to know that treasury tags still have their uses. :-p

Yeah, it's not a car worth stealing - a wee clapped out Fiesta. And the Park and Ride is so quiet that it could probably sit there for days unnoticed.

Oops forgot the towel today. Had to nip out of the shower to grab some paper towels.

I am fortunate that we have lockers at work. I leave a couple of changes in the locker as well as a few sets of shorts n socks. I have only forgotten my keys once, found when I couldn't unlock the D-lock in our cycle parking. Managed to borrow a lock from a collegue whilst Mrs Dave brought my keys in [embarressed].

Smudge & anyone wlse who takes the train) (top tip) if you buy a season ticket (of any length), and find you have to buy a day return you can take your ticket in the next day and they will refund (within a few weeks) to you're bank account. I have even bought a single to Edinburgh and then gone through the barriers (ask the barrier guard to let you keep you're ticket to take to the counter) and got that ticket price off a monthly season ticket.

    Monday Morning, 8:55AM and...

(it's OK, it turned out they were locked in the locker room that is temporarily closed for refurbishment and I had left them in by accident Friday last)

    But he's wearing a shirt...
You have good tall lockers, we get half that size or even worse - square ones where you can't even hang a pair of trousers

(artistic licence. Lockers are half-sized and a pair of trousers cannot be hung in them. Also, the changing room is currently closed for repairs (that's where the trousers were hiding)

Left half hour late this morning. Next train cancelled. Arrived at the base an hour late, to discover I was sans pantaloons, and the emergency pair was in the office in Helensburgh.

    Rapture...

"to discover I was sans pantaloons"

    And then you woke up.

    Oh...!

Forgot my trews today too. First time ever.

Luckily no meetings so can survive in my reasonably respectable Craghopper trousers. Spot of hiking, anyone? Toodle pip!

Clearly a day for trouser malfunctions! Sadly I'm not in an office (are there any...?) where lycra leggings are acceptable, so I had to lurk in the IT office until somebody travelling between sites brought the spare pair with them.

    <snort>

Unusual dress codes only apply in IT offices?

If I didn't have a head thick with the cold, I might manage some sort of out-grouping satire on anti-techie prejudice (sandal wearing, bearded, t-shirted individuals always cluttering up the place with their cables - don't they know that I've got real work to do on "their" network!)

    <grin>

I think I must be quite forunately then as we have a mixture dress here. Suits n ties by the 'heads of Sheds', smart casual (MM), jeans n T's, and one guy who just sits in his Shorts n Running top until his second run at lunch time.

SOCKS! oops. and today (first time ever) I commuted in the multi-coloured ones my mum knitted that I'd had on 'cause I couldn't find my slippers.

Must add spare socks to the other miscellaneous spares in my desk drawer!

  18. Work shoes. Forgot I'd taken them home on Friday to go out for 'fancy meal' in 'nice suit' on Friday night. They'd still be at home then...

Also cufflinks, but I keep a spare set in the drawer in case of that particular emergency (a rather nice deco/geometric inspired set thought to be from the 50s - I do like cufflinks).

    Cufflinks!

    What a posh job! I don't have cuffs as I wear a t-shirt

  20. I have to admit, I do quite like the separation between work and leisure that putting on the collar and tie creates (although dress down Friday is quite nice too).

Also, I have monkey arms that most standard shirts just don't have long enough sleeves to accommodate - I've found a couple of shirtmakers whose additional length sleeves fit the bill however, and most tend to be double-cuffed.

    I iz proper posh innit...

Happy to own up to spending the odd day with two artfully bent paperclips holding my cuffs together. Treasury tags would probably be more effective, but are harder to get hold of.

If anyone can explain how I came to be dressed up at work (post shower), but lacking one dress shoe, I would be very grateful.

Well obviously you need to remove 'dress' clothing, get unclean, put your finest reflectives on, cycle backwards and find shoe at home where you left it.

Problem is, I thought I'd done that 'blokey' thing and left my trouser suit and shoes at work last week...

Did I somehow manage to take one shoe home? If so, why haven't I seen it, and will I be able to find it even if I do go home this lunchtime to look for it?

I've had this pair of shoes since 1995, and they're the only ones that work with dress trousers instead of skirts. CRISIS.

on the positive side, if i don't find it, it will be a good excuse to a buy a pair i've had my eye on for some months, which have *finallY* been reduced...

I think a new pair of shoes every 17 years is hardly extravagant .

Breadfast. Spent a good ten seconds on the train staring with mounting dispair at the empty bottle cage, as realisation dawned that the pot filled with a tasty mixture of yoghurt, granola and blueberries (and spoon!) was still in the kitchen at home.

On the plus side, Friday is Bacon Roll Day...

Today left wallet at home and broke glasses when they fell off my face as I took my hat off in the changing room. Think the cold had made the flexible rubber hinge brittle and it shattered. Fortunately can order an £8 replacement part rather than have to replace the whole frame.
