I think this sums up an awful lot of the EEN commenters. Just read the reactions to the Scotland soccer team's new away strip. Admittedly, I think it looks awful (but I don't follow the sport anyway), though not in the way the many homophobic commenters react. I think it shows that it's not just cycling and driving EEN's online readers have irrational views about!:

New Scotland strip: What do you think?

(I'm not suggesting all EEN commenters are homophobes or irrational of course - some make perfectly reasoned and valid comments - but I just found this amusing, sad and disturbing, with the emphasis on the last two. I sadly can't say I'm surprised though).

Surely I'm not alone in enjoying just how camp some of the (very vaguely) homophobic comments are?

For a sport without a single out professional player, I always thought the 'tattoos and hair styling' culture of soccer was very revealing.

    Revealing of what?

Bald patches and which tattooists have chorea.

I always thought the communal baths were more revealing.

Especially when they left their towels in the changing rooms.

This new away strip looks commercially aimed at the summer majorca / blackpool beach hordes

The EEN commentariat, i would like to throttle til their eyes bulge and then i would bite and chew the eyeballs.

I suppose that makes me pathological..

    Theoretically, at least

That was my point. Sad that a post decrying homophobic comments descends into the very same. I have tattoos and use hair product, not sure what that reveals about me!

A rugby playing friend says that they haven't used communal baths for a long time. It's health and safety gone mad.

I don't watch football or wear strips but even I thought it was hideous.

Very good! I love to see a mention of Teenage Fanclub (even if affectionately mocking)

I always thought comments about communal baths were very revealing of repressed feelings... ;)
